General Employment Qualifications
The basic role of everyone working at Children’s Choice is to facilitate the positive development of children.
- All staff working with children must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications. Children’s Choice schedules periodic courses.
- All staff working with children must pass a Criminal Records Background Check.
- All staff working with children must have taken or enroll in the CYFD Entry Level 45-Hour Course or an equivalent.
- College-level courses in child development are considered an equivalent.
- The Afterschool Professional Certificate course offered at CNM (taught by Chelsea Ashcraft) is an equivalent.
- Receiving the Afterschool Professional Certificate by completing all 9 basic training modules offered by Children’s Choice is an equivalent.
Specific Staff Qualifications
CAREGIVERS/GROUP LEADERS
This is the entry-level position. Play sports, take field trips, make crafts, be goofy, have fun and be a good role model. Learn, play, and get paid for doing both!
Caregivers Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field,
OR a Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field with three months of experience,
OR two years of college with nine months of experience,
OR a HS Diploma with 18 months of experience,
The caregiver position is part-time. The group leader position is full-time in the summer. The starting pay is $9/hr plus paid holidays, paid planning time, paid preparation time, and great training with pay raises based on performance.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTORS
This is a leadership development position reserved specifically for those who are working toward the position of Program Site Director. Under the supervision of a Program Site Director, they will act as the model caregiver, mentor the afterschool staff, communicate with families, build relationships with the school staff and faculty, and assist in the orchestration of all program activities. Associate Site Directors will accept and perform the responsibilities of a Site Director at any Children’s Choice site in the absence of the regular Site Director for as long as is deemed necessary.
Associate Directors Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field,
OR a bachelor's degree in an un-related field,
OR an AA Degree/2 years of college and 2 years of experience,
OR a high school diploma and 3 years of experience.
Assistant Director positions may be full-time or part-time. The starting rate is $10.00 per hour plus either full time or part time benefits.

PROGRAM SITE DIRECTORS
Program Site Directors are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program site. They supervise and develop the caregivers and associate directors, communicate with families, build relationships with the school and oversee all program activities.
Program Site Director Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field,
OR a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and 1 year of experience,
OR an AA degree/2 years of college and two years experience,
OR a high school diploma and 3 years of experience.
The Site Director position is full-time. The starting pay is $27 per year ($13 per hour), plus full-time benefits.

LOCATIONS
We have eight program locations: Bandelier, Sombra Del Monte, Zuni, John Baker, Manzano Mesa, Arroyo Del Oso, Double Eagle, and Comanche Elementary Schools. Staff placement decisions are made based on the best interests of the children and the program. Staff preferences for placement are granted whenever possible.

HOURS OF OPERATION
We operate from 7 AM—6 PM, M-F, whenever school is not in session. (excluding national holidays). A variety of staffing schedules are considered.

Children's Choice Child Care Services, Inc. is dedicated to facilitating the positive development of children by developing and maintaining school-age care programs that are a model of quality care -- programs where children play, learn, grow, and make friends -- programs where children are nurtured and develop life skills. We will use these programs as a source of training and technical assistance for the larger community of school-age care practitioners.
