Close the Equal Access Gap! Everyone deserves quality and accessible after-school care. Why do students need you now?
Why do students need you now?
Equal access to after school care is an important issue for our community. Communities that don’t have accessible AND high quality after-school care face higher crime rates, decreased school attendance, and decreased student performance. This is true even when all other factors are taken into account.
Despite the importance of after-school programs, nearly 75% of all families in New Mexico do not have access to affordable and high quality care. We need your help to open the door to more families.
YOU can close the gap.
YOU can close the gap. With the support of families and foundations, over 1,100 students received no-cost classes in the 2013-2014 school year. However, these classes are only 1-1.5 hours of care. Many parents who were working or going back to school needed more time. This created a “gap” in affordable and high quality care.
Children’s Choice is starting a “gap” scholarship fund to provide programming for families that need more care but don’t have access.
Your support is crucial to making this happen. With your help, by next school year, over 300 students will have access to high-quality and affordable care. This will remove the biggest barrier to after-school participation in our communities and ensure equal access for all.
