Children's Choice is Open for Everyone!

We are pleased to announce that, following APS’s decision to resume in-person classes beginning Monday, April 5th, Children’s Choice will be offering our usual Before/After-School child care at all 13 of our locations through the end of the 2020-2021 school-year. Registration is now available in your parent portal:

*If you are currently registered for Full-Day care, that program will be ending on Friday, April 2nd. You will need to register again for Before/After-School care, if you require it. Priority registration for current families is open now and will be available to you until Wednesday, March 24th.

Capacities may be limited at your location. Just because you complete the registration, that does not guarantee we are able to immediately accept your child into the program. There may be a short waiting period before they are admitted. 

Please note: We will be adhering to strict COVID-safe practices that have been utilized in our full-day program since last March. These practices include, but are not limited to:

  • Required face masks for all children and staff in the program
  • Contactless drop-off/pick-up procedures
  • Enhanced sanitization
  • Social distancing
  • Frequent hand washing reminders

Please do not register if you, your child, or anyone in your household is sick! Please screen your child for possible COVID symptoms and take their temperature daily before coming to school. Students should stay home if they exhibit any symptoms or have a temperature of more than 100.4 degrees

Hours of Operation:

  • Before-School Program (where applicable):
    7:00AM - Until school begins
  • After-School Program:
    School dismissal - Until 6:00PM

Prices: The cost of care will depend on your location and whether you are needing before-school, after-school, or both. A full breakdown of our prices can be found here:

Registration Fee: There is a $40 APS Building Usage Fee that is collected annually at the start of each school-year. If your child has already been registered for our full-day program this year, you will not need to pay this again.

Billing/Scheduling: You must select the specific days you will need your child to attend each week. These will be your scheduled days for all weeks going forward. If you need to change your days, please email by the Thursday of the week before you need the changes to be implemented.

Once your registration is accepted, you will be financially responsible for the days you’ve selected, regardless of attendance. This is so that we can properly staff for your children. The only exceptions to this policy are:

  1. If we are forced to close due to a positive case of COVID-19 at the site, or
  2. If your child is ineligible to attend due to COVID-19 exposure (documentation will be required to verify this)

At this time, we are unable to offer a drop-in option for care. In order to properly staff, and to ensure that we are able to comply with all COVID related practices and regulations, we must know how many children to expect each day. We hope to be able to offer this option again in the future. Thank you for your understanding.

Financial Assistance: Children’s Choice will not be able to offer any special pricing or discounts for child care at this time. However, New Mexico’s Early Childhood Education & Care Department is supporting families who need child care. The state has changed eligibility requirements in order to help as many families as possible. Please go to to see if you qualify. Families who qualify will also have monthly copays waived through June of 2022! Donations: The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed so much for so many of us and Children’s Choice has been impacted significantly. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to serving the students and families in our care and providing a fun, safe, enriching place for students.  We’re asking you, our Children’s Choice community, to help us out by digging deep in your closets. No need to spend any money!

Children's Choice has a detailed list of items that will be used to make sure our students have a safe, fun, and enriching time while in our care. Please see link below. With spring in the air, spring cleaning often follows, and we hope you'll consider bringing us items you find during this process.  Perhaps you started a new hobby during quarantine that didn't quite "take" and have materials at home you'll no longer use and would like to donate to Children's Choice for the kids to enjoy in the program.

If you are willing and able to donate any of these items you can either bring them to the Children's Choice main office (10601 Lomas Blvd STE 101, ABQ NM 87112- call first to ensure someone will be there at 296-2880) or speak to your Site Director to arrange drop off.
