Children’s Choice | Universal Childcare Resources
Starting November 1, 2025 New Mexico will become the first state in the nation to offer no-cost universal child care. This expansion extends access to families regardless of income and is expected to save families an average of $12,000 per child each year. Universal child care applies to Children’s Choice programs, meaning eligible families can use their approved benefits directly with us for high-quality before- and after-school care.

Applications are accepted on a walk-in basis Monday thru Friday between 8:00AM- 4:00PM.
Along with an ECECD application, you will need to submit the following information when you
apply for services:
- Current proof of countable earned and unearned income for applicant and biological
parent, step-parent, and/or legal guardian living in the household, if applicable - School schedule for applicant and biological parent, step-parent, and/or legal guardian
living in the household (if applicable) - Verification of birth for all applicant children
- Photo Identification for applicant
- Proof of qualified immigrant status for those without a birth certificate from the U.S.
- Proof of New Mexico residency, such as a lease/rental agreement or utility bill
